Teams Hrynew and Hafeli capture BC U20's
Teams Harrison Hrynew and Holly Halifa captured the British Columbia U20 Provincial Curling Championships
Harrison Hrynew wins Men’s BC U20 Provincial Championship
Harrison Hrynew and his teammates Wesley Wu, Taj Mackenzie, and Isaac Lauzon from New Westminster defeated the Chris Parkinson team from Comox Valley, BC in the Men’s Final of the BC U20 Championship on Monday.
Parkinson was undefeated throughout the tournament until the final, and he led the way in most statistical categories, but Hrynew stole points in the 10th end and the extra end to win the game 8-7.
Because BC has 2 spots at U20 Nationals this year, both teams will be travelling to Prince Edward Island in March to compete for a National Championship.
Holly Hafeli wins Women’s BC U20 Provincial Championship
Holly Hafeli and her teammates Jorja Kopytko, Gabby Brissette, and Natalie Hafeli dominated the competition on the Women’s side of the championship.
Hafeli had a perfect 6 and 0 record, and beat Ava Arndt of Vernon, BC 9 to 4 in the Championship Final.
Hafeli will be B.C.’s only representative at the 2025 New Holland Canadian Under 20 Curling Championships in Summerside, Prince Edward Island in March.
